Chrissie Rouse is a New York based visual artist, working primarily in charcoal drawing and photography. After two years of study at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), Chrissie returned home to New York where she received her BA in studio art, with a minor in art history from Stony Brook University. Her work ranges from portraiture to naturescapes, to adventures in mixed media, abstraction and tainted realism. She participates annually in Gallery North’s Wet Paint Festival on Long Island (in honor of Long Island native plein air painter, Joseph Reboli), and has recently exhibited her work in group shows in both Brooklyn and Queens, with original pieces in permanent private collections.
With
a background in administration, in 2010, Chrissie transitioned her professional career into her field of study, fine arts and culture. She has done volunteer work for the Manhattan-based Affordable Art Fair and the New York Photo Festival in DUMBO, Brooklyn. Additionally, she worked in research and marketing for the New York Foundation for the Arts’ Fiscal Sponsorship Program, prior to jumping on board with Brooklyn-based photographer,
Sarah Small as the Producer of her multi-disciplinary performance art project: Tableau Vivant of the Delirium Constructions (NYC 2010-2012, global premiere in pre-production for 2013), and Studio Director for Sarah Small Photography. Most recently, Chrissie also worked on production for Zac Jaffee’s one man show, Heroes And Other Strangers, which made it’s NYC premiere at FringeNYC 2011.
When she is not working or in her studio, Chrissie can be found parading around town with one of her fantastic vintage polaroid cameras, singing and dancing with her little sister, Casey, or confined to her kitchen in a baking extravaganza.
